The art of psychology requires ongoing introspection, expansion of role repertoires, exploring of different frames of references and fine-tuning of skills. It is an ever-evolving process of exploring humanity and exploring yourself.

My aim with supervision is to provide a comfortable place where you can deal with the discomfort of self-reflection, exploring blind spots or connecting with yourself.

My therapeutic style is built on a strong humanistic foundation, the observation of interpersonal variables, holistic understanding of clients and strategically using the therapeutic relationship to facilitate growth.

“We can only know ourselves through others and we can only know others through knowing ourselves”

Sydney Harris

I believe in humanity’s innate capacity to self-actualize if given an optimal psychological environment as such I strongly ascribe to the Rogerian principles of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. That being said I am also acutely aware of the intricacies of balancing these values against each other to facilitate growth.

I place a strong emphasis on case formulation focussing on the understanding of the presenting problem from a theoretical foundation with the aim to strengthen and develop clinical judgement and skills.

I work from an Integrative Interactional Approach utilising Systems Theory as a meta-theory. This allows me to punctuate my intervention on the most effective level of the system and to incorporate various therapeutic techniques from different therapeutic modalities.

I am well versed in psychological assessment and neuropsychological assessment. I believe a strong understanding of the psychological instruments and their standardisation combined with an integrative, holistic understanding of a person’s context is crucial to arriving at accurate conclusions following an assessment.

I provide psychological supervision that may include some of the following components:

  • Personal growth
  • Ethics
  • Psychotherapy skills
  • Case formulation
  • Interactional Pattern Analysis
  • Psychological assessment
  • Psychological report writing
  • Neuropsychology – therapy and assessment
  • Third party psycho-legal assessment

I also provide practice mentorship and business coaching. I find great joy in assisting psychologists to build their practices and to share what I have learnt in establishing my practice.
